Fungi event

Join Society for Conservation Biology – Southeast QLD for a fungi walk & treasure hunt in beautiful Lamington National Park. Hunt for fungi and other rainforest inhabitants such as invertebrates and plants, including the northernmost patch of Antarctic Beech in Australia. Whether you are a fungi, plant, or creepy crawly enthusiast, or simply there for a fun walk, there will be something for you to enjoy!

PhD researcher Lachlan Curran will be joining us to speak about information on commonly seen fungi and guide us through fungi identifications.

In addition to spotting the fungi, we will have a wildlife photo treasure hunt competition (the checklist of species will be provided on the day). With a special prize for the person/team who photographs the highest number of species from our treasure hunt checklist. The prize will be awarded during our social drink at Groom’s Cottage & Bushwalker’s Bar after the walk, so please consider joining us!

Where: Binna Burra upper day-use area, Lamington National Park. We will be walking the Tullawallal Circuit.

Meeting spot: Picnic table near the Binna Burra Lodge
